Once upon a time (last Thursday) there was a long cool woman in a black dress, a bicentennial mall, and an overcast sunny sky that was like God’s own perfect studio soft-box.

Still sifting through a shoot with this lovely the other day. Lots of good black & white, but here’s a nice color one for starters.

Roofless Music.
There was a beautiful concert of music Saturday morning early in Philip Johnson’s Roofless Church. Part of the New Harmony Music Festival & School. Music has been performed there only rarely since its dedication in 1960 (also the year of my own “grand opening” as a person).
New York musicians extraordinaire, violinist Arnaud Sussman and pianist Michael Brown played Ravel’s “Tzigane,” and Debussy’s “Clair de Lune” (it being the occasion of the full moon).
Also on the program was a fine 9-piece ensemble with strings, piano and flute; and the harpist Martha Waldvogel. Everything was lovely, but due to space, I’m only including photos of the piano moving (something of a novelty) and Arnaud and Michael warming up before the performance.

Music Cartage.
Up early Saturday preparing to move a Steinway for a lovely concert at Philip Johnson’s Roofless Church. Naturally the official vehicle of the New Harmony Festival and School was a golf cart. Because that’s the speed at which New Harmony rolls;)
